Boy Catts + Doll Hairs: Let's Talk Money

Let’s talk money for a minute...

The Spring market season is beginning here in Tucson and while it’s looking like it’s going to be a short one for me with just 2 markets on my schedule- I’m taking it as a sign that the Universe has better things in store for me!

February has brought a lot of talk about money, spending, financial security, etc… to our feeds and across dinner tables. Let’s be real, it’s a dumpster fire out there and a pyromaniac is in charge.

With many boy-catts directed at large corporate retailers streaming past you on your feeds I hope you’re taking a min to stop and consider doing what you can to join in. I don’t like it, but our doll hairs/$ have a lot of power if we use it mindfully.

One of the ways we can do that is by shopping LOCAL, SMALL BUSINESS, and HANDMADE as often as possible. Keeping your hard earned  in the hands of other hardworking small biz owners is going to be the best bang for your buck while also sending a message to these big corporations that you’re not down with their bullish!t.

Another way we can push back with our pocket books is by planning ahead and USE CASH!

Shopping small business is already a power move on its own, but paying in cold hard cash takes it a step further in cutting out the middle man- ie: credit card companies + servicers. Between interest and service fees, using plastic helps pad their pockets, and we’re over that- ya hear me?

It’s not always realistic to pay in cash, and shopping small business not in your local community is important and usually involves using electronic payments. BUT- when you can pay in cash with your favorite small business you’re taking another step to show up and have your voice heard, while keeping 100% of those funds in you local economy- and that’s pretty dope imo.

Look, no one likes talking about money and I’ll probably get shadow banned on the social media site for even posting this… but when we look around and see how much our lives are controlled by greed you really just have to look in the mirror and ask yourself: What’s ONE thing I can do to help?

* I've been seeing so many friends talk about feeling overwhelmed and feeling defeated, like there's nothing we can do. While this doesn't take place of the larger ways we can speak up and make change... Something like adding a simple approach to your day to day habits, like shopping small business and paying in cash, can start a ripple affect with larger outcomes for our communities and beyond. Every act matters- make 'em count!
